How fast does motrin work for fever?

My son has a high fever, and I just gave him Motrin. He's feeling very unwell, and I want him to get comfortable as quickly as possible. How fast does Motrin usually start to bring down a fever in kids?

Honestly it usually starts showing effect in like thirty to forty minutes. Don't stress too much if the temperature doesn't drop to normal instantly, it takes a little time to work completely. Just make sure you are resting and drinking enough water.

I remember staying up all night checking my temperature every ten minutes because the anxiety was so bad. It actually took almost an hour for me to feel any relief and that wait was torturous. Please be gentle with yourself, the medicine will do its job soon.

It usually starts working within an hour, but please be very careful. Last year I kept taking pills to suppress my fever and ignored the underlying infection which landed me in the hospital with severe complications. If your fever is very high or keeps coming back, drop everything and see a doctor immediately.

I totally get it, sitting with a high fever makes every minute feel like an hour. Usually you start feeling a bit lighter in about 45 minutes as the sweat kicks in. Just lay down in a comfortable room and let the medicine work.

In my experience, it takes around 30 to 60 minutes to kick in and keep the fever down for a good few hours so you can actually focus. Don't expect a magic cure in 5 minutes. If it's a high fever or doesn't budge after an hour, you should definitely consult your doc instead of waiting.
