How fast does lung cancer grow?

My father has been coughing a lot lately, and he's a smoker, so we're pushing him to get checked out. My cousin's father recently passed away from lung cancer, which has made me quite anxious. Just trying to understand how fast this type of cancer grows.

From what I have been reading online, it really depends on the type. Small cell lung cancer grows and spreads extremely fast, while non-small cell lung cancer usually develops much more slowly over several years.

The growth speed varies, but keeping your lungs healthy through clean air and cardiovascular exercise is always a solid foundation. If someone is dealing with a diagnosis, staying as physically fit as possible helps handle the strain of treatment.

My granddad had lung cancer, and the doctor said it was the small cell type which is super fast-growing. It literally changed within a couple of months, so you shouldn't delay any biopsy or treatment scheduled for you.

I was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer last year and got it treated. In my case, the nodule hadn't changed much over six months, showing it was slow, but the doctors told me other types can double in size in weeks. Quick action is life-saving.

Growth rates are highly variable and depend on the specific pathology of the tumor cells. It is best to consult a pulmonologist or oncologist who can explain the doubling time based on your specific PET scan results.

At my age, even my metabolism is slow, but unfortunately, some of these lung tumors can grow pretty fast if they are the aggressive type. Best to get those chest scans checked by a pro rather than waiting for things to move.
