How fast does colon cancer grow?

My neighbour's father was diagnosed with colon cancer last month. They seem quite worried about it, and it made me think about my own family history. I'm wondering how quickly colon cancer usually grows once it starts.

Beta, keeping your stomach clean with fresh fruits and light food is good for the digestive system, but these deep-seated diseases need proper doctor's treatment. Colon tumors usually grow slowly over years, so do not lose your courage. Go to a big hospital and get checked properly.

In our family, we always emphasize eating fiber-rich foods like traditional home-cooked vegetables, but we also trust medical science completely. Colon cancer is generally known to grow very slowly, often taking several years to develop from a simple polyp. Please consult a specialist and get a colonoscopy done to be sure.

I completely understand the dark, anxious thoughts that keep you awake when you worry about this. It is an emotionally draining space to be in, but please remember that colon cancer is typically a slow-growing disease. Give yourself some grace and let the medical tests guide you rather than fear.

Look, as someone who works closely with patients, I can tell you that colon cancer is one of the slower-growing cancers out there. It usually starts as a benign polyp that takes years to change. This is why regular screenings, especially if you have symptoms or are over 45, are so incredibly powerful.

I absolutely panicked when my father was found to have a colon polyp, thinking the worst would happen in weeks. The doctor explained that colon polyps take almost 10 to 15 years to slowly turn into cancer, if they even do. Getting it removed during a simple colonoscopy is highly effective and routine.
