How fast can kidney stones develop?

I've been having some pain in my side, and my mother had kidney stones in the past. It got me thinking, how fast can kidney stones actually form? Like, can they develop in just a few weeks or months?

I completely understand how stressful this is, because the thought of sudden kidney pain used to terrify me. To answer your question, stones can actually form in just a few weeks if you are severely dehydrated or eating too much oxalates. Getting an ultrasound done will help calm your mind.

Hey, relax. While they can sometimes develop in a matter of a few weeks if your water intake is very low, most stones take months to grow large enough to cause issues. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day, and you will be absolutely fine.

I've seen many people deal with this, and they can form in just a few months if the urine is highly concentrated. The simplest and most practical thing you can do is drink 3 liters of water daily and squeeze some fresh lemon in it. If you have sharp side pain, see a doctor right away.

They can grow surprisingly fast, sometimes in just a couple of weeks if you are super dehydrated in this hot weather! Make water your best friend and try to limit extra salty foods. Stay hydrated and stay happy!

Honestly, my brother got a 4mm stone in just a few months during his exam days because he kept forgetting to drink water. It doesn't take years to form if your diet is heavy on sodium and low on fluids. Keep a water bottle next to you all day, it really helps!
