How fast can colon cancer develop?

My doctor recommended I get a colonoscopy because of my family history of colon cancer. It made me wonder, how fast can colon cancer actually develop? Like, how long does it take from a polyp to become something serious?

In my father's case, the doctors told us that his colon cancer likely took about 10 to 15 years to develop from a tiny polyp. He didn't have any major symptoms for a very long time. This is why we all started getting regular checkups in our family now.

Haan na, stomach issues are so tricky and we always think it is just normal gas. But colon cancer actually grows very slowly over many years, so we have time to catch it if we do regular tests. Ek baar doctor ko dikha lo, clear ho jayega sab.

It was so heartbreaking when we found out, because you always think you have time. The doctors said it takes years to form, but it felt like everything changed for us overnight. It is totally normal to feel terrified, but getting screened early really makes a huge difference.

Usually, colon cancer is quite slow, often taking 10 to 12 years to grow from benign polyps. However, there are some genetic types that can progress much faster. If you ever notice blood in your stool or sudden weight loss, don't wait, get a colonoscopy scheduled.

I know how scary it is to read up on this, I literally couldn't sleep for days thinking about my gut symptoms. But honestly, most medical sources say it takes a decade or more to develop from a polyp. If you are worried, booking a specialist consult will help calm your mind.
