In my long life, I have seen that throat cancer isn't always something you can just see from the outside. Often it is just a persistent hoarseness of voice or a small painless lump in the neck that doesn't go away. Don't panic, but getting a simple checkup by an ENT doctor is the best way to be sure.
Visually, you might not notice much early on, but you can track symptoms like trouble swallowing or a persistent cough that lasts over three weeks. If your voice metrics or breathing feel off consistently, logging these symptoms and showing them to a specialist is the most efficient next step.
When my relative went through this, there was a visible, hard swelling on one side of the neck that didn't hurt at first, and some red or white patches inside the throat. If you notice any such changes or voice changes lasting more than a month, go straight to an oncologist or ENT specialist for an endoscopy.
Honestly, it's not something you can easily spot like a pimple, but it might feel like a constant blockage when you try to swallow your favourite spicy tandoori chicken. If eating gets painful or feels weird for weeks, it's definitely time to put down the food guide and visit a doctor.
