How does the liver function?

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with some liver issues, and it made me realize how little I know about this organ. Can someone explain, in simple terms, how the liver functions and what its main jobs are in our body?

The liver acts as your body's main chemical processing plant, filtering toxins, processing nutrients, and producing bile for digestion. Since we lead busy lives with poor eating habits, getting an annual Liver Function Test (LFT) is a quick and realistic way to make sure it's doing fine.

My grandmother always recommended drinking buttermilk with curry leaves to cool the liver. It helps clean the blood, process food, and filter out harmful toxins. However, if you feel fatigued or have digestive issues, it is always best to consult a medical doctor for proper advice.

The liver stores and releases glucose to keep our energy levels stable. Because of my diabetes, I have to be very careful with my diet, as fatty liver can worsen insulin resistance. Focus on eating high-fiber foods and reducing sugar to keep your liver functioning smoothly.

Don't stress, our body is highly resilient and the liver is incredibly good at self-healing. It filters your blood and processes everything you consume day in and day out. Just avoid drinking alcohol, eat home-cooked meals, and it will take care of you perfectly.

The liver does over 500 jobs, including cleaning toxins, storing vitamins, and helping digest food. When my daughter was recovering from jaundice, I realized how precious this organ is. Keep your family's meals simple, fresh, and hygienic to give the liver an easy job.
