How does strength training improve mental health?

Recently started strength training at the gym, and I'm already feeling physically better. Also heard it can have great benefits for mental health. Could someone elaborate on how lifting weights specifically helps improve our mental well-being?

I totally get how hard it is to even get out of bed when you are feeling low. Strength training helps by giving you a sense of achievement and a healthy routine that breaks the cycle of negative thoughts.
