How does starting school later improve mental health?

Some articles recently suggested that later school start times can benefit students. It makes sense for sleep, but I'm curious about the specific ways it could improve mental health. What's the connection there?

If school started at 10 AM instead of 7:30 AM, maybe I wouldn't have spent my entire teenage years looking like a zombie. Teenagers naturally can't sleep early, so pushing school timings back just lets us get those crucial extra hours of sleep!

While social media claims starting school later cures depression, scientific sleep studies show it only helps if adolescents actually sleep early too. You should consult a pediatrician or sleep specialist to understand your child's biological sleep cycle properly.

Starting school later gives them extra sleep, haan na. Otherwise, small kids have to wake up at 6 AM in the cold and they remain cranky the whole day. A bit of extra rest is so good for their little minds.

From what I have observed with my younger cousins, more sleep directly helps regulate hormones and reduces morning anxiety. Since hormonal balance is so delicate, a relaxed morning routine could really make a positive difference in their mental peace.

While a later school start time definitely helps reduce chronic fatigue, if your teenager is constantly sleeping excessively or shows no energy, please get a proper medical checkup. Sometimes underlying issues like vitamin deficiencies are the real cause.
