How does someone get hay fever?

Every spring, I start sneezing non-stop and my eyes get super itchy, especially when I'm outdoors. My friend called it 'hay fever', but I don't really understand what that is. What causes hay fever, and why does it only happen at certain times of the year?

Hay fever is just an allergic reaction to pollen, dust, or mold in the air. Steam inhalation with a drop of eucalyptus oil and drinking warm ginger-tulsi tea can give great relief. But if you have severe breathing difficulty or a high temperature, please see a doctor immediately.

Honestly, spring season is the absolute worst for my nose. The moment flower pollen hits the air, I start sneezing like crazy and my eyes get super red. It is so hard to sit through lectures looking like I have been crying all morning.

This allergy happens when our respiratory system becomes overly sensitive to nature's cycles. Practicing Neti kriya and doing Kapalbhati pranayama daily helps strengthen and cleanse the nasal passages. It has helped me stay allergy-free for years.

Between my late-night work shifts and this sudden hay fever, my eyes are permanently swollen. It is funny how a tiny bit of pollen can completely destroy a fully grown adult's daily routine. Currently living on tissues and hope.

Hay fever, or allergic rhinitis, is an immune system overreaction to airborne allergens. While avoiding outdoor exposure during high pollen times helps, consulting an allergist is the best way to get targeted treatment or antihistamines.
