How does social media affect sleep?

Night after night, I find myself scrolling reels before bed, and then I can't fall asleep for hours. Does using social media late at night really mess with our sleep cycle that much, na? I keep hearing about blue light, but what's the actual science behind it?

Late-night scrolling makes your brain too active, which delays digestion and ruins your sleep quality. I always make sure to have a light dinner and keep my phone away at least an hour before sleeping. It is much better to drink a warm cup of haldi-doodh instead of reading posts.

Look, it is very simple—if you keep your phone next to your pillow, you won't sleep. That blue light tricking your brain is real, not some myth. Turn off the Wi-Fi by 10:30 PM and see how easily you drift off.

Yaar, actually it is a vicious cycle. You watch one reel, then keep scrolling till 3 AM and wake up totally exhausted the next morning. My sleep cycle was completely ruined because of this doom-scrolling. Now I literally keep my phone charging in the other room.

Try washing your feet with cool water and applying a little mustard oil before bed to calm your mind after screen use. But honestly, if you have been facing severe insomnia for weeks, please see a doctor. Sometimes simple screen-time adjustments aren't enough for deep-rooted issues.

Bro, my screen time is embarrassingly high before sleep. I say 'just 5 minutes' and suddenly birds are chirping outside my window. It seriously messes with my morning lectures, I feel like a zombie half the time.

Before you spend thousands on sleep clinic consultations or expensive mattress brands, try this free fix. Put your phone on 'Do Not Disturb' mode after 9 PM. It costs zero rupees and actually solves the primary trigger of restless sleep.

I used to get terrible sleep because of reading stressful news updates right before bed. Now I listen to some soft instrumental music or a guided meditation app instead of looking at visuals. It has made such a massive difference to how refreshed I feel in the morning.

In our times, we slept when it became dark, but now kids keep eyes glued to bright screens. To calm the nervous system, drinking some warm chamomile tea or doing simple deep breathing helps. Keep the devices away; your eyes and brain need natural rest.

It is completely fine if you slipped up and stayed up late scrolling yesterday, don't beat yourself up. Just try to keep a book by your bedside tonight instead of the phone. Your mind needs a soft transition into sleep, so protect your peace.

I just fixed my sleep schedule after months of struggle. The culprit was definitely social media stimulating my brain at midnight. Once I replaced the phone with a Kindle and set a strict limit, my deep sleep went up on my tracker. It takes about a week to adjust, so hang in there.
