How does sleep impact mental health?

I've been feeling a bit irritable and anxious lately, and my sleep has also been very disturbed. My husband says it's probably connected, but I'm not entirely sure. How exactly does the quality of our sleep influence our mental well-being?

A restful sleep clears the dust of daily worries from our consciousness. It brings a natural peace and positivity to the mind, helping us face the next day with grace. Take care of your rest, as a calm mind is your greatest strength.

I've noticed my mood swings and anxiety are much worse when my sleep is irregular, which is quite common with PCOS. Better sleep seems to help balance our stress hormones, though it's just one piece of the puzzle. Do find a routine that works gently for your body.

Let's be clear: sleep deprivation is a major trigger for clinical anxiety and depression. Your brain needs time to process emotions and clear toxins overnight. If you're cutting sleep to work extra hours, you're actively destroying your mental health.

In our times, we slept with the sun and woke up peaceful. A cup of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg before bed can quieten a hyperactive mind. Do not carry your modern worries to bed, let the body heal itself through proper rest.

My mental health when I sleep 8 hours: 'Life is beautiful!' My mental health when I sleep 4 hours: 'Why did that person look at me funny, do they hate me?' Honestly, sleep is the only thing keeping my sanity alive right now.
