How does positive tb test look like?

My colleague recently had a TB test, and I'm a bit worried as I've been around her. I want to know what a positive TB test actually looks like on the skin, as in, what kind of reaction or mark should I be looking for if I get tested?

Beta, if it is a Mantoux skin test, a positive result looks like a hard, raised red bump at the injection site after 2 to 3 days. Do not try putting any home remedies or oils on it to reduce the swelling. Let the doctor measure it properly to decide the next step.

My doctor explained that a positive skin test is characterized by a raised bump of 10mm or more in healthy individuals, and 5mm in immunocompromised patients, assessed after 48-72 hours. He emphasized that a positive test only indicates exposure to the bacteria, and a chest X-ray is required to check for active tuberculosis.

Haan na, skin test me chota sa bump swell ho jata hai aur thoda kaddak lagta hai touch karne par. If it looks like that, don't worry, but immediately doctor ko dikhao. Lab reports check karna hi sabse safe hota hai, isme bilkul deri mat karna.

If that little scratch on your arm turns into a hard, angry-looking button after two days, that's usually a positive skin test. Don't start scratching it or panicking. Just take your arm to the lab or clinic and let the professionals measure it with their scale.

A positive Mantoux test is determined by the size of the induration (the hard swelling), not just the redness, typically measured in millimeters by a healthcare provider. Alternatively, a positive blood test (IGRA) is reported directly from the lab. In either case, consulting a pulmonologist is essential to confirm active or latent TB.

A positive skin test will show a firm, swollen bump on your arm, not just redness. While eating garlic and turmeric can help build general immunity, TB is a serious infection that requires proper medical treatment. Please don't rely on home tips and go see a doctor immediately if you suspect a positive result.
