How does physical activity help mental health?

I've heard a lot about how exercise can improve mental health, but I still struggle to get motivated. My friend swears by it for her stress relief. Can someone explain the actual benefits and how it positively impacts one's mind?

At this age, climbing two flights of stairs makes me gasp, but honestly, it also stops me from worrying about life for a bit! When you exercise, your brain gets busy with the physical effort instead of overthinking. It might be exhausting, but it really sweeps away the mental cobwebs.

My teenage son was struggling with severe anxiety and screen addiction last year. I forced him to join basketball, and within a few weeks, we saw a massive improvement in his mood and sleep. Physical activity is a great outlet for kids to release their mental stress and build confidence.

Look, it is simple science. Working out triggers endorphins, reduces cortisol, and increases BDNF which helps with brain health. If you are sitting at a desk all day and feeling depressed, just move. Even 30 minutes of lifting weights or running will clear your mind instantly.

Suno, dimag thik rakhna hai toh sharir ko hilana padega. Sitting in one place all day and thinking too much is the main problem. Start walking for 45 minutes daily or do some basic exercises; it pumps fresh blood to your brain and keeps the negative thoughts away. Koi rocket science nahi hai isme.

I totally get how hard it is to even think about exercising when you are feeling down or anxious. But physical activity doesn't have to be a heavy gym session; even a slow, peaceful walk helps release dopamine. It just brings you back to the present moment and calms the mental storm.

Honestly bro, whenever I feel super low or angry, I just hit the gym. Lifting weights helps me channel all that negative energy into something productive. By the time I finish my workout, my head feels completely clear and I feel much more relaxed.
