How does owlet determine deep sleep?

We recently bought an Owlet smart sock for our baby, and it gives reports about deep sleep. I'm really curious how it actually measures deep sleep in infants. Does anyone know the technology behind it, and if it's reliable?

Actually yaar, it doesn't track brainwaves like a real sleep lab. It just uses PPG sensors to track heart rate and oxygen levels along with movement. When the baby is super still and the heart rate is steady, it assumes it is deep sleep.

It monitors the little one's heart rate and breathing patterns through the smart sock. It's a gentle way for parents to feel reassured that their baby is resting peacefully.

I used to stare at the app constantly! It uses movement and heart rate metrics to guess the sleep state. Try not to panic if it shows less deep sleep one night, babies have different sleep cycles and the app is just an estimator.

In our days, we just put our hand on the child's chest to see if they were sleeping deep. These modern socks look at heart rate variations and movement. They are nice gadgets, but trust your own eyes and instincts too, they are never wrong.

I've been reading up on this because I am planning for a baby next year. It's fascinating how a tiny sock can use pulse rates and motion algorithms to determine deep sleep stages. Seems like a helpful tool for peace of mind.

According to our pediatrician, the Owlet sock utilizes pulse oximetry to track heart rate and oxygen saturation. By combining these data points with motion tracking, its algorithm infers whether the baby is in light or deep active sleep stages.

I guess the sock tracks calm heart rates and zero movement for deep sleep, kind of like my food comas after a heavy biryani lunch! It’s a smart system, but keeping the baby well-fed is the real secret to deep sleep anyway.

My Owlet is showing that my 3-month-old is barely getting any deep sleep tonight, even though she is sleeping quietly. Does anyone else get inaccurate readings when the sock is slightly loose? I am getting really worried.

It's a very expensive gadget for just tracking movement and heart rates to estimate deep sleep. Honestly, a normal baby monitor and maintaining a quiet room works just as well without spending 30k rupees. Plan your budget wisely before buying.

It maps sleep stages based on cardiovascular recovery trends, very similar to how my sports watch tracks my own recovery. Keeping a routine of taking the baby out for fresh air in a stroller really helps improve those deep sleep metrics naturally.
