How does oura ring track sleep?

Thinking of buying an Oura ring to improve my sleep, but I'm curious about the technology behind it. How does it actually figure out all the different sleep stages and give a score? Is it really accurate for tracking sleep cycles?

It uses sensors on your finger to track blood flow, body temp, and movement. But look, if you are having severe fatigue or breathing issues at night, do not rely on these gadgets. I ignored my sleep apnea thinking my tracker was fine, so please consult a specialist if you feel unwell.

This tiny ring basically watches me toss and turn all night and then gives me a low 'readiness score' to make me feel even more tired in the morning! It uses infrared sensors to track pulse and movement. Very high-tech way to tell me I need more sleep.

It measures your heart rate, skin temperature, and finger movement throughout the night to map sleep stages. It's quite accurate for a consumer wearable.

It tracks sleep using body temperature trends and heart rate variability from your finger. While these smart rings are good for general tracking, please get a proper clinical sleep study done at a hospital if you are suffering from chronic insomnia.

In our days, we just slept when the sun went down and woke up fresh. These modern rings use advanced optical sensors on the finger skin to estimate deep and REM cycles. They are fascinating tools, but don't stress too much over the daily numbers, just focus on sleeping peacefully.
