How does one get tb disease?

Someone in my neighborhood recently got diagnosed with TB, and now everyone is a bit concerned. I'm trying to figure out how someone actually contracts TB disease and what the common ways it spreads are.

It spreads through the air when someone who has active lung TB coughs or sneezes. It's a bacterial infection, not a random virus. If anyone has a cough for more than two weeks, they need a proper sputum test and chest X-ray done immediately.

I just finished my 6-month DOTS course last month. I got it because I was living in a poorly ventilated PG with a roommate who was coughing constantly without knowing he had TB. It spreads easily in closed spaces, so please don't ignore prolonged coughing.

Humare yahan kehte hain ki kamzori aur bheed-bhaad wali jagah se yeh jaldi pakadta hai. It spreads when we breathe in the air near an infected person coughing. Accha khana khao, immunity badhao, aur kisi ko aisi khaansi ho toh turant sarkari hospital le jao.

Listen, don't stress too much about catching it from casual contact like shaking hands or sharing food, that's not how it spreads. It takes close, prolonged contact with someone who has an active untreated infection. Just stay healthy, keep your rooms airy, and you'll be totally fine.

My colleague was diagnosed yesterday and now I'm super panicked. Is it true that we can have the bacteria inside us without showing any symptoms for years? I have a mild cough today, should I run to the clinic right away or wait?

Got diagnosed during college because my immunity was trashed from bad sleep and skipping meals. The bacteria is everywhere, but it attacks when your body is weak. Took my meds daily, ate heavy meals, and kicked it out in six months.

Back in my youth, people were terrified of TB because treatment was tough. But now, medicine has advanced so much. It is just a bacterial infection caught from breathing infected air, and if diagnosed, it can be cured completely with regular tablets.
