How does one get dandruff?

My scalp has been very itchy and flaky lately, especially in this humid weather. I've tried different shampoos, but I still get dandruff. What exactly causes it to appear and how can I get rid of it properly?

Dandruff usually happens because of an oily scalp mixed with a common yeast-like fungus we all have. I have seen many people get it worse during dry winters or when they don't wash their hair regularly. Try a mild ketoconazole shampoo twice a week, it really helps clear it up.

Sometimes dry, flaky scalp issues are linked to hormonal changes, like what I experience with my thyroid. If normal anti-dandruff shampoos aren't working, it could be a sign of some underlying skin issue or hormonal imbalance. Get a quick checkup with a dermatologist to be sure.

Excessive sweat from workouts can build up on your scalp and trigger dandruff if you don't wash it off soon. I make sure to do a quick water rinse or light head wash after my daily runs. Keep your scalp clean and dry to prevent the fungus from growing.

I always prefer natural ways, so applying a little curd or lemon juice mixed with coconut oil on the scalp helps a lot with mild dandruff. However, if your scalp is very red, itchy, or bleeding, please don't experiment at home. Go see a skin specialist immediately.

Hey, don't stress too much about dandruff, literally everyone deals with it at some point! It is usually just dry skin or oil buildup on the scalp. Just get a decent anti-dandruff shampoo from the medical store and use it regularly, you'll be fine.
