How does one get a kidney infection?

My aunt has been suffering from recurrent kidney infections, and it's quite painful for her. We're trying to understand what factors lead to someone developing a kidney infection so we can be more careful.

Usually, a kidney infection starts as a simple urinary tract infection that moves upward because it wasn't treated in time. Please don't ignore any burning sensation while peeing, and drink lots of water. If you have severe back pain or fever with it, see a doctor immediately.

I made the mistake of ignoring a mild UTI, and it turned into a severe kidney infection that hospitalized me. It is incredibly painful and can become dangerous very quickly. Please, if you have back pain, chills, or fever, go straight to a doctor and get antibiotics prescribed.

I barely sleep and sometimes forget to drink water all day, which my doctor said is a recipe for urinary infections that can reach the kidneys. Basically, bacteria get into the bladder and travel up if you don't flush them out. Let this be your reminder to pause and drink a glass of water right now!

I ignored a burning sensation for a week thinking it would go away, and ended up with a high fever and kidney pain. It was a huge mistake. Please get a urine culture test done immediately if you suspect an infection, don't wait like I did.

These infections happen when we hold urine for too long or don't maintain proper hygiene, allowing bacteria to grow. While drinking barley water or coconut water helps soothe the urinary tract, a kidney infection is serious. You must consult a doctor for proper medicine.

Yes, bacteria traveling from the bladder is the main cause. Getting a quick urine routine test done can help identify it early.

It mostly happens when a bladder infection is left untreated and reaches the kidneys. Please don't stress, just drink plenty of water and consult a general physician soon to get the right care.

I love spicy street food, but not drinking enough water after all that masala can lead to UTIs, which eventually climb up to the kidneys. Keep enjoying your food but make sure you balance it out with plenty of fluids. Stay hydrated so your kidneys can flush out the bacteria naturally!

It usually happens from bacteria entering the urinary tract, often due to unclean public washrooms. The most practical solution is to drink 3 liters of water daily and use toilet disinfectant sprays when traveling. But if you have fever, go to a government hospital or local clinic for cheap and quick treatment.

Just like managing thyroid, keeping your urinary health in check requires regular monitoring. Kidneys can get infected if basic UTIs are ignored. Get your blood and urine tests done periodically, and make sure to follow up with your doctor for proper antibiotics.
