How does nature affect mental health?

Whenever I spend time in a park or just around trees, I feel much calmer and less stressed. My friend also feels the same. I'm curious to know the actual scientific explanation behind how being in nature impacts our mental health.

Listen, don't stress too much about finding perfect nature spots like mountains. Just sitting on your balcony with a couple of green plants and looking at the sky for a bit can help you breathe easier.

Bro, just walking in a park for 15 minutes without my phone literally resets my brain after semester exams. It is like an instant cure for screen fatigue.

Nature walks are excellent for daily stress management. However, if you are experiencing severe, continuous panic attacks or clinical depression, please get evaluated by a medical doctor immediately.

My therapist explained that being in green spaces lowers blood pressure and reduces amygdala activity, which is the brain's stress center. Spending time in nature physically shifts our body from fight-or-flight to rest-and-digest mode.

I feel so anxious when I stay indoors for too long with the AC on, but the moment I step outside near trees, I can actually breathe. Does anyone else get physical chest tightness that just goes away when they go to a park?
