How does music therapy help mental health?

My therapist recently suggested exploring music therapy as an option for my anxiety. I'm trying to understand the science behind it and how it specifically helps with mental health issues. Is it more than just listening to calming tunes?

I used to get so stressed thinking my anxiety would never end, and I was skeptical about music therapy. But after doing guided sessions with a therapist, I realized it is just a scientific way to calm your nervous system. It really helped me stop panicking over my symptoms.

Music therapy is a good supportive therapy, but please make sure you consult a certified clinical psychologist for any serious mental health issues. Do not replace professional psychiatric treatment or medication with just music sessions.

Actually, music therapy is not just about listening to songs, yaar. They use beats to help you express emotions you can't put into words. It is super chill and really works when you are feeling totally stuck in life.

I went through severe burnout last year and enrolled in structured music therapy sessions. Using rhythm and specific frequencies actually helped me process my stress and sleep much better. It is definitely worth trying if you are feeling mentally exhausted.
