How does music affect teenagers sleep?

My son, who is 16, always has his headphones on, even late at night. He struggles to wake up for school sometimes, and I wonder if his music habit is impacting his sleep cycle. Is there a scientific connection there?

Agreed, soft music really helps calm down the teen academic stress before bed. Just make sure they keep the volume low to protect their ears.

We took our teenage son to a pediatrician at Fortis because he was staying up till 3 AM listening to songs. The doctor told us that late-night screen light and loud headphones disrupt melatonin production. It is best to consult a doctor if your teen's sleep cycle is completely ruined.

Honestly, as a student, listening to slow lo-fi music is the only way I can quiet my brain after studying late. Otherwise, all the exam formulas keep running in my head. It just helps me relax and pass out quickly.

My mother always said listening to gentle prayer songs or classical music in the evening brings peace to growing kids. But when my granddaughter had severe insomnia, our family doctor advised us that while music is soothing, we also need to keep a strict schedule. It is a mix of traditional discipline and proper medical advice.

I used to sleep with heavy metal music blasting in my earphones all night during my board exams, and I ended up with horrible headaches and daytime fatigue. I recently changed this habit to putting on a 15-minute sleep timer with light piano music. My sleep quality has improved so much and I actually wake up fresh now.
