How does metformin help diabetes?

My doctor recently prescribed Metformin for my newly diagnosed diabetes. I'm trying to understand how this medicine works in my body to control blood sugar. Can someone explain the mechanism simply?

I can only share my own journey. When my doctor started me on metformin, my fasting sugar levels gradually came down because it helped my body use insulin better.

My doc put me on it last year. It basically stops your liver from producing extra glucose and makes your cells more sensitive to insulin. Works well if you also hit the gym.

Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver. Along with my daily pranayama and light yoga, it has helped keep my HbA1c stable for years. It is a very standard and reliable support.

My sugar touched 280 last year. Metformin helped bring it down to normal within two months by improving insulin sensitivity. Just watch out for initial stomach upset, which is very common.

I try to manage my sugar with karela juice and walk, but for high levels, metformin is what doctors rely on. It helps control glucose release. Do not stop or start it without a proper prescription.

I was so scared of side effects when I was prescribed metformin. But it actually just helps your body process insulin naturally. Just make sure you get your kidney functions tested yearly while on it.
