How does iphone track sleep without watch?

I heard that the newer iPhones can actually track your sleep patterns even if you don't have an Apple Watch. My sleep has been a bit all over the place lately, and I'd like to monitor it. How does the iPhone manage to track sleep data without a wearable device?

You don't need to waste money on an expensive Apple Watch just to track sleep. The iPhone uses its built-in motion sensors and microphone to detect your movement and breathing sounds while it is placed on your bed. It is a great way to save money and still get a basic idea of your sleep cycles.

Hey, don't stress too much about these exact sleep numbers. The phone basically guesses when you sleep based on when you last touched it and the room's silence. It is not 100% accurate, so don't lose sleep over your sleep tracker data!

I use this feature every night! In the Health app, you just set up a sleep schedule. The phone tracks when you lock it at night and when you first pick it up in the morning to estimate your sleep duration. It is actually super simple and works well enough for daily tracking.

Technology is wonderful, but the best way to track sleep is how peaceful your mind feels when you wake up. The phone just uses movement and light sensors to estimate your rest. Stay positive, keep your mind calm before bed, and sleep will naturally follow.

While the phone uses motion detection and screen time to estimate sleep, please remember it is not a medical device. If you are experiencing constant insomnia, extreme daytime fatigue, or snoring, you should get a proper medical sleep study done for your safety.
