How does hybridization affect acidity?

I'm having trouble with a chemistry concept for my JEE preparations. Can someone please explain how hybridization affects the acidity of organic compounds? I'm finding it difficult to apply the rules.

In chemistry, as s-character increases in hybridization (like sp vs sp3), the electronegativity of the carbon atom increases, making it hold onto electrons more tightly. This helps stabilize the conjugate base, which increases the acidity. It is beautiful how nature has such perfect laws; stay curious and keep learning.

I am not an expert, but from what I remember from my college chemistry, sp-hybridized carbons are more acidic than sp2 and sp3. This is because the electrons are closer to the nucleus in sp orbital. Please double check with a textbook or teacher just to be absolutely sure.

This chemistry topic reminds me of my son's exam preparation. He used to study late nights, which messed up his sleep and my BP too! Just stay calm, learn the basic concept of electronegativity in hybridization, and don't take too much exam stress.

When studying organic chemistry formulas, just remember: acidity is directly proportional to the s-character. Since sp has 50% s-character, it is the most acidic, followed by sp2 (33%), and then sp3 (25%). Keeping a quick digital cheat sheet on your phone can help you revise this instantly.

When I first read 'hybridization and acidity', I thought it was about some new hybrid vegetable causing stomach reflux! Glad to know it is just organic chemistry. My only advice is to study this with a cup of light tea to avoid real acidity!
