How does diabetes destroy blood vessels?

The importance of controlling my blood sugar to protect my blood vessels is something my doctor always stresses. I'm trying to understand the science behind it – how exactly does high sugar destroy or damage the blood vessels in the body?

I totally get it, learning about how sugar affects your body can be really scary. High glucose basically causes inflammation and makes your blood vessels narrow and stiff. Please don't panic, managing your daily food intake can help protect them.

High sugar creates a lot of oxidative stress in our tubes and vessels, making them brittle. Practicing daily yoga and soothing breathing exercises helps lower stress hormones, which in turn helps keep our circulation gentle and healthy.

Hey, dont stress too much about this. Basically, high sugar acts like a rough scrub on the inside of your blood vessels, causing damage over time. Just focus on your daily walks and cut back on the sweet chai.

My endocrinologist explained that high sugar levels lead to the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). These substances damage the endothelial lining of the vessels, making them lose elasticity and accumulate plaque much faster. This is why strict glucose control is non-negotiable.

The excess glucose causes endothelial dysfunction, which promotes plaque buildup in the arteries. I suggest adding antioxidant-rich vegetables like spinach and amla to your diet to combat this oxidative stress, while strictly avoiding refined carbs.

In our experience, high sugar weakens the flow of life through our veins. Along with your doctor's pills, chewing a few methi seeds in the morning and eating simple, unpolished grains helps keep the blood clean and flowing well.

Don't let these terms scare you, it is a slow process that can be managed. High sugar damages the vessel walls, but as long as you are keeping your blood sugar stable and taking your medications, you are protecting your system. I am here if you need to talk.

When I first read about blood vessel damage, I was terrified and couldn't sleep for days. It feels like your own body is working against you, but getting my HbA1c down really helped ease that anxiety. You are not alone in feeling this way.
