How do you know if you have bladder cancer?

Lately, I've noticed some blood in my urine, and I have to go to the washroom very frequently. My doctor has asked me to get some tests done, and I'm quite worried about what it could be. What are the signs that might indicate bladder cancer?

I understand how terrifying it is to worry about something as serious as cancer, I've had sleepless nights over similar fears. But please remember that common issues like UTIs or kidney stones also cause blood in urine. Take a deep breath and get a urine routine test done to start with.

The main symptom is usually painless blood in the urine. Instead of worrying, go to a government hospital or diagnostic lab for a basic urine test and ultrasound, which will cost you less than 1000 rupees total. That will give you clear answers without spending too much.

My father had bladder cancer and his primary symptom was seeing blood in his urine, which we initially mistook for an infection. He didn't have any pain at all while urinating. I can only share this experience, but you must consult a urologist for an actual diagnosis.

You cannot diagnose this yourself at home; you need proper medical tests like a cystoscopy. I always prefer visiting a reputable hospital with a dedicated urology department. Ask your doctor clearly about the necessary tests so you don't keep stressing.

I agree with everyone here. If you see blood in your urine, even if it happens only once, please see a urologist immediately to be safe.

At my age, with high BP, I have realized that regular health checkups are very important. If you notice blood in your urine or any changes in your bladder habits, don't ignore it. Get your annual tests done and keep your doctor updated on any new symptoms.
