How do you know if someone has asthma?

My younger brother often gets breathless and starts wheezing, especially when he's active. We're concerned it might be asthma, as my chacha also has it. What are the common signs, and how do you know if someone has asthma for sure?

Asthma is usually identified by frequent wheezing sounds while breathing, chest tightness, and a persistent dry cough, especially at night.

If someone regularly shows a drop in their peak flow readings or experiences sudden breathlessness during workouts, it could be asthma. I use a health tracker to monitor my respiratory rate, which really helps spot breathing patterns. Definitely get a spirometry test done at a clinic to be sure.

Frequent wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing fits triggered by dust or cold weather are classic signs. Don't rely on home remedies or steam inhalation for this. Go straight to a pulmonologist and get a proper diagnosis and inhaler prescription.

I have had asthma since childhood, and for me, it always starts with a tight feeling in my chest and a whistling sound when I breathe out. If someone is struggling to speak full sentences because they are out of breath, they need immediate medical help.

Asthma triggers can vary from dust allergies to cold air, causing sudden coughing or breathlessness. If you notice someone struggling to breathe regularly, keep them calm, sit them upright, and get them medical attention. It is a very manageable condition once you have the right inhalers.

When the breath is shallow and uneasy, the mind also becomes restless, which is common in breathing difficulties like asthma. Encourage them to practice gentle, slow breathing in a clean, dust-free environment. Keep a positive outlook and see a doctor for the proper healing path.
