How do you get rid of coccyx pain?

Been dealing with tailbone pain for a few weeks now, especially after sitting for long hours at work. My doctor suggested it could be coccyx pain. Looking for some practical tips or home remedies that actually help relieve this discomfort.

In our times, we used to apply a warm mustard oil massage very gently on the lower back area. Doing light warm compresses can also bring some relief to the tailbone. But remember to sit on soft surfaces and do not strain yourself; if it persists, you must show it to an orthopedist.

Haan, tailbone pain is extremely annoying, especially if your job involves long sitting hours. Hard chairs to bilkul avoid karo na, and use a proper orthopedic pillow. Thoda ice pack lagaya karo shaam ko, kafi farak padta hai.

My orthopedist explained that tailbone pain is often due to inflammation of the ligaments, and healing is slow because of constant pressure. He recommended short courses of anti-inflammatory gel, using a donut cushion, and strictly avoiding hard stools. If the pain doesn't subside in 4 weeks, an X-ray is usually advised to check for micro-fractures.

Ah, the painful tailbone struggle is real! I literally had to carry my donut cushion everywhere like it was my baby. Trust me, people will look at you funny, but your backside will thank you big time!

I dealt with severe coccydynia for six months after a bad slip. The only things that actually work are using a U-shaped cutout cushion, avoiding leaning back while sitting, and doing gentle hamstring stretches daily. Give it a few weeks, tailbone ligaments take a lot of time to heal.

I had pelvic and tailbone pain last year, and I found that gentle pelvic tilts helped ease the pressure. However, it is hard to say if it works for everyone since the cause can be different. It’s always best to get a quick physical therapy assessment first.

Sitting in one place for too long worsens my tailbone pain and also keeps my blood pressure on the higher side. I have started taking short standing breaks every 45 minutes to walk around. Please get a proper health checkup to make sure it is not nerve compression.

Before running for expensive MRI scans, I bought a basic foam cutout cushion online for 400 rupees and it helped immensely. Try these cheap home modifications first like using rolled-up towels for support. If the pain is unbearable, then plan a doctor visit so you don't waste money on unnecessary clinical visits.

Honestly, I haven't slept properly in three days because finding a comfortable angle to lie down is impossible. I am currently typing this while half-hanging off the bed. If anyone finds a magical cure that doesn't involve buying a 2000-rupee cushion, please let me know.

Applying a local pain relief gel or using hot and cold therapy alternatively for 15 minutes can really help calm the inflammation. Avoid sitting straight on soft sofas because they actually put more pressure on the coccyx. If you don't see any improvement in a week, see a physiotherapist.
