How do you contract hepatitis a virus?

We recently had a small outbreak of jaundice in our area, and the doctor said it was Hepatitis A. I'm trying to understand how this virus spreads. What are the common ways people contract the Hepatitis A virus, so we can take better preventive measures?

Hepatitis A is primarily transmitted through the fecal-oral route, which usually means consuming contaminated food or water. It's highly contagious but mostly temporary. If you suspect you've been exposed, consulting a physician for proper guidance and checking your vaccination status is the best course of action.

Bro, I got this last year after eating some roadside golgappas where the water was probably not clean. It starts with bad fatigue, dark urine, and yellow eyes. Honestly, just stick to clean bottled water and hygienic places when eating outside to avoid this mess.

Oh god, my hostel roommate had Hep A last semester. It spreads so easily if someone doesn't wash their hands properly after using the washroom and then touches food. We all had to be super careful with sanitizers and boiling our drinking water for weeks.

Since it affects the liver, your energy levels will drop drastically if you catch it through contaminated food. If you are recovering, please don't rush back to heavy workouts. Just do very light, short walks only if your doctor gives the go-ahead, and let your liver heal.

Because of my high BP, I keep a strict watch on what I eat to avoid extra strain on my organs. Hepatitis A comes from unhygienic water and food, so maintaining high hygiene standards at home is key. Get routine health checkups done to make sure your liver enzymes are in the normal range.

Listen, don't stress too much about it! It's just a common food-and-water thing that usually goes away on its own with plenty of rest and light food. Just make sure you are drinking filtered water and eating freshly cooked hot meals for now, and you'll be totally fine.

It is waterborne and foodborne, simple as that. If you travel a lot for work like me, avoid raw salads and tap water in places with poor sanitation. Getting vaccinated is the most efficient, time-saving way to protect yourself from these sudden disruptions.
