How do you contact tb?

A distant relative in our village has been diagnosed with TB. I'm wondering how exactly someone contracts tuberculosis. Is it only through close contact, or are there other ways to get infected? My kids visit the village sometimes, so I need to know.

Listen, don't stress out first of all. TB spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes and you breathe in those tiny droplets, but it usually takes prolonged close contact, not just passing someone on the street. If you have a cough that's lasting more than two weeks, let's get it checked by a doc, okay?

Beta, in my life I have seen many people get TB and completely recover. It is an airborne infection, so sharing a room for a long time with someone who has active lung TB is usually how it happens. But remember, it is fully curable now with proper timely medicine, so there is no need to lose heart.

When my househelp had a bad cough, we took her to a reputed chest specialist who explained that TB bacteria are inhaled through airborne droplets. The doctor gave us a very clear explanation of how it spreads and put our minds at ease. I highly recommend visiting a good hospital to get your doubts cleared directly by a specialist.

I can only share what happened in my office when a colleague was diagnosed with TB. The doctor told us that since we sat in an air-conditioned room together for hours daily, we should monitor our health. None of us caught it, but we learned that closed spaces with poor ventilation and long exposure are the main factors.

TB is airborne, spreading when someone with active infection coughs or speaks near you. If you have been around an active TB patient or have a persistent cough and night sweats, don't waste time researching online. Go get a chest X-ray and sputum test done immediately to be sure.
