How do you catch valley fever?

I was reading an article online about different kinds of fungal infections, and 'Valley Fever' was mentioned. It sounds a bit unusual. How does one typically catch Valley Fever, and is it something we need to worry about here in India?

Valley fever is caught by breathing in tiny fungal spores from the soil, especially in dry, dusty areas. It is not contagious between humans. Keep your mind calm, stay positive, and take good care of your breath and body.

Don't worry, Valley Fever is not contagious at all, so you can't catch it from another person. It only happens when people inhale a specific fungus found in highly dusty, dry desert soils, mostly in places like the southwestern US. Just stay indoors during heavy dust storms and you will be perfectly safe.

I read that Valley Fever comes from inhaling soil dust in dry regions, but has anyone here actually caught it while traveling? I am planning a trip to a dusty desert area next month and I am really nervous about breathing in those fungal spores.

Ah, so basically, you catch this one just by breathing in dirt! It is caused by fungal spores in dry desert soil. Unless you are planning to roll around in the dust in Arizona or California, you really don't need to lose sleep over this!

You catch Valley Fever by inhaling fungal spores found in dry, dusty soil. It does not spread from person to person.
