How do u get rheumatic fever?

My daughter had a bad strep throat infection last month, and our pediatrician mentioned we should watch out for something called rheumatic fever. I'm a bit confused; how does one get rheumatic fever after having strep?

Rheumatic fever is a serious complication that can develop if a strep throat infection is left untreated or partially treated. Please be very cautious and always consult a doctor for any severe throat infection to prevent this from affecting the heart.

Unmanaged bacterial infections can lead to inflammatory issues like rheumatic fever, which can damage heart valves over time. Just like monitoring blood pressure, getting proper antibiotic courses for throat infections is vital for long-term health.

I remember having such a bad sore throat once that I couldn't even swallow my favorite butter chicken. That’s usually strep throat, and if you don't take antibiotics for it, it can turn into rheumatic fever. Never ignore a painful throat!

Haan na, people often think it is just a normal cold-fever and ignore it. It actually happens when a throat bacteria infection triggers our own immune system to attack joints or heart tissues. It is better to show a doctor, ho na.

My immune system is so exhausted from my late-night shifts that I worry about every small bug. Rheumatic fever basically happens when your body's immune response goes haywire after a strep infection, thinking your own tissues are the enemy.
