How do people get dandruff?

Been struggling with dandruff for a long time now, and nothing seems to work completely. I use anti-dandruff shampoo, but it always comes back. What actually causes dandruff in the first place?

Bro, for me it was purely because of oily scalp and gel buildup when I was styling my hair daily. If you don't wash your hair regularly, that fungus called Malassezia starts feasting on the oil and leaves you with itchy flakes. Just get a decent anti-dandruff shampoo and use it twice a week, it sorts things out quickly.

Many people don't realize that yeast and fungal growth on the skin can get worse if your blood sugar levels are high. When my diabetes was uncontrolled, my scalp was always dry and flaky. Managing your diet and keeping insulin levels steady actually helps improve skin and scalp health too.

Don't worry, dandruff is super common and nothing to feel embarrassed about, especially with all the pollution and stress we deal with. It is usually just dry skin or a reaction to some strong hair product you might have used recently. Just keep your hair clean, don't scratch your scalp, and it will settle down soon.

I thought my itchy, flaky scalp was just normal dandruff and kept ignoring it for almost a year until my hair started falling out in clumps. It turned out to be a severe seborrheic dermatitis infection that required medicated lotions. If your dandruff is thick, yellow, or doesn't go away with basic shampoo, please see a dermatologist immediately.

I tried everything from applying curd and lemon juice to soaking my hair in apple cider vinegar for my dandruff. While curd gives some temporary cooling relief, sometimes these kitchen remedies can irritate a sensitive scalp even more. A mild ketoconazole shampoo works much faster and is safer in the long run.

With my PCOS, the hormonal imbalance often causes my skin to produce excess sebum, which leads to frequent dandruff flare-ups. It is not just about dirty hair; internal hormone levels play a huge role too. If you are struggling with other symptoms like acne or irregular periods, it might be worth discussing with your doctor.
