How do people get cirrhosis of the liver?

My uncle passed away recently because of liver cirrhosis, and it was quite sudden. I was wondering how exactly someone gets this condition. Is it mainly about alcohol, or are there other factors too?

Honestly, our poor liver takes so much drama from us, whether it is too much party scenes or just oily chole bhature every weekend. People think it only happens to heavy drinkers, but actually non-alcoholic fatty liver is also a huge thing now. Keep your fried food in check and give that liver a break, it is the only one you got!

As a mother, I had to study this a lot when my son had liver issues due to a congenital condition. It is not always about lifestyle; sometimes chronic infections like Hepatitis or even genetic issues can damage the liver over years. Please get proper tests done if you have any family history, early detection makes a huge difference.

I can only speak from what happened to my uncle. He never drank a drop of alcohol in his life but still got diagnosed with cirrhosis because of long-standing fatty liver that he ignored for fifteen years. It was a huge eye-opener for our entire family about how silent liver damage can be.

I have been dealing with thyroid issues for ten years and if there is one thing I have learned, it is that metabolic issues are all connected. Liver damage often builds up slowly without any major signs until it becomes serious. Best thing is to go for annual blood panels and let a specialist doctor guide you regularly.

For general liver health, having light home-cooked food and warm water with haldi or amla juice is great to keep things clean. But cirrhosis is a very serious permanent scarring of the liver, and home remedies won't cure that. If there is jaundice or severe fatigue, skip the home tips and head straight to a hepatologist.
