How do kidney pain feel like?

Since yesterday, I've had this dull ache in my lower back, sort of on my side. I'm wondering if it could be kidney pain. What does kidney pain typically feel like?

I just recovered from this last month and it is a dull, constant ache deep in your upper back, right under the ribs, usually on one side. Unlike normal back muscle pain, it doesn't change or get better when you stretch or change your sitting position. It is accompanied by a very uncomfortable feeling.

It is a deep, heavy pain in the sides of your back that does not go away with simple rest. Drinking plenty of warm water or barley decoction can help soothe the urinary tract slightly, but if the pain is severe or accompanied by fever, you must show it to a doctor immediately.

Kidney pain is typically felt as a persistent ache high in the back, just beneath the ribcage, and can be accompanied by urinary symptoms like burning or discoloration. It is crucial not to confuse it with muscular back pain and self-medicate with painkillers, as some can actually harm the kidneys. Consulting a doctor is the only safe way to get a diagnosis.

I agree. It is a deep, steady ache located in the sides or upper back that doesn't change with movement, unlike muscle pain.

In my sixty years, I have seen that kidney pain is very different from regular spinal stiffness because it stays constant even when you lie down to rest. It is a deep ache that often comes with a bit of nausea or a warm feeling in the body. Don't be scared, just get an ultrasound done and things will be clear.

It can feel like a deep, throbbing pressure in your flank area that sometimes spreads to the lower abdomen. Since pelvic pain and kidney pain can sometimes feel confusingly similar to ovarian issues, it is always safer to consult a gynecologist or physician rather than guessing.

I was reading about this and apparently, kidney pain is visceral, meaning it comes from the organ stretching, which is why it feels like a deep, nauseating throb rather than a surface muscle pull. It also doesn't hurt more when you bend or lift things, unlike a typical back spasm.
