How do kidney infections happen?

I recently had a bad UTI, and my doctor mentioned that if not treated, it could lead to a kidney infection. This got me a bit worried. How do kidney infections happen in the first place?

I know how terrifying it is when you feel that sharp back pain and start panic-searching about infections online. They usually happen when bacteria from a normal UTI travel up the ureters into your kidneys. Take a deep breath, it is highly treatable with antibiotics, so please don't spiral.

Kidney infections often stem from stagnant energy and bacteria moving upward from the bladder when fluid intake is low. Along with regular hydration and keeping the body cool, proper medical treatment is essential to clear the infection. Listen to your body and rest well.

Honestly, it is usually because of untreated UTIs where bacteria like E. coli just make their way up to the kidneys. Holding your pee for long lectures and not drinking enough water makes it way easier for bacteria to multiply. Just keep chugging water, guys.

I made the mistake of ignoring a burning sensation while peeing, thinking it would go away on its own, and it turned into a severe kidney infection with a high fever. Please do not ignore these early signs and get a urine test done immediately before it gets worse.

My mother always tells us to drink barley water and buttermilk to reduce body heat and clear the urinary path. But if bacteria have already reached the kidneys, home remedies alone will not cure it. You must visit a doctor and complete the full course of antibiotics.

When we indulge in too much salty junk and forget to drink enough water, our urinary tract gets sluggish, making it easy for bacteria to colonize and climb up. Balance those delicious heavy meals with plenty of coconut water and plain water to flush things out!

It usually starts as a simple bladder infection that decides to travel upstairs to the kidneys! 💧 Drinking plenty of water and maintaining good hygiene are your best shields. Don't wait if you feel chills or back pain, just see a doc! 😊

I agree with the others. Bacteria travelling up from the bladder is the main cause, so drinking plenty of fluids and not delaying urination is key to preventing it.
