How do i know if my tailbone pain is serious?

A few weeks ago, I fell and have had this persistent pain in my tailbone ever since, especially when sitting. It's not getting better, sometimes quite sharp. When should one really be concerned about this kind of pain?

Hey, don't worry too much, tailbone pain (coccydynia) is very common if you sit for long hours on hard chairs. Try using a cutout donut cushion for a few days and see if it feels better. If the pain is shooting down your legs or you have numbness, then only you need to worry and see a doctor.

My grandmother used to suggest a warm hot water bag fermentation for this kind of lower back pain, which really helps relieve the stiffness. However, if you had a recent fall or if the pain is making it hard to bowel or stand up, it is best to consult an orthopedic doctor for an X-ray.

Bhai, agar dard bahut zyada hai aur uthne-baithne me taklif ho rahi hai, toh isko halke me mat lo. Sikai karne se thoda aaram milega par ek baar doctor sahab ko dikha lijiye. Kahin andar koi chot na ho, woh dekhna zaroori hai.

Usually, applying warm sesame oil mixed with a little camphor can soothe mild tailbone soreness from sitting. But please note, if you see any swelling, redness, or if you develop a fever along with the pain, it could be an infection or pilonidal sinus. Please visit a doctor immediately in that case.

I tracked my sitting posture on my smartwatch app and realized I was sitting 9 hours straight, which caused my tailbone pain. Try setting stand-up reminders every 45 minutes and do gentle glute stretches. If the pain doesn't go away in a week, definitely book an appointment with a physiotherapist.
