How do i know if im having a heart attack?

I'm having a dull pain in my chest right now, it feels heavy and like it's spreading to my left arm. I'm also feeling a bit breathless and sweating. Is this how a heart attack feels, and what should I do immediately?

According to cardiologists, the classic symptoms of a myocardial infarction include crushing substernal chest pain, radiating discomfort to the left arm, neck, or jaw, and diaphoresis (cold sweating). If you are experiencing these symptoms along with shortness of breath, please call emergency services immediately. Do not attempt to self-medicate or wait for the symptoms to pass.

I survived a heart attack just three months ago. It felt like an elephant was standing on my chest, and the pain went up to my jaw, making me break out in a massive cold sweat. If you feel this kind of intense pressure, please do not ignore it for a second—go straight to the emergency room.

If you feel a heavy squeezing in your chest, sudden breathlessness, and cold sweat, do not waste time thinking it is just acidity. Keep an aspirin tablet at home and chew it if you suspect a heart attack, but immediately call a neighbor or an ambulance to take you to the nearest hospital. Do not drive yourself.

While eating low-fat, plant-based food helps prevent blockages in the long term, dietary changes won't help during an active emergency. If you are experiencing chest pain, nausea, and sudden fatigue, it could be a heart attack. Please get immediate medical attention instead of trying home remedies like herbal teas.

Women can sometimes experience atypical heart attack symptoms, like subtle chest pressure, jaw pain, back pain, or severe fatigue, rather than the classic crushing pain. Since I manage PCOS, I try to be very careful with my cardiovascular health. Please consult a doctor immediately if you feel any of these unusual symptoms.

While regular cardio workouts keep your heart healthy, acute symptoms like chest pain, pressure, and left arm numbness are signs of an active medical emergency. Do not try to walk it off or exercise. Stop all physical activity immediately and get rushed to the nearest hospital.

Having thyroid issues has taught me how interconnected our heart health is with our metabolism. If you are having chest discomfort, sudden unexplained sweating, or dizziness, please don't wait for your routine tests. Go to a hospital immediately to rule out a heart attack with an ECG.
