How do doctors check for kidney infection?

I've had a burning sensation when I pee, along with some lower back pain and a mild fever for a couple of days now. My friend said it might be a kidney infection. What kind of checks will the doctor typically do for this?

They will usually do a routine urine test and a culture to see if there is any bacteria. It is very quick.

Look, if you have fever, back pain, or burning while peeing, don't sit at home. Doctors will check your urine sample for infection and maybe do an ultrasound if needed. Go to a clinic today itself and get it checked, don't delay.

Since I manage my diabetes carefully, I have to be very watchful about urinary tract infections as they can spread to the kidneys. Doctors check this with a urine culture and blood counts. Keep your blood sugars under control and always get a proper lab test done.

I panicked so badly when I had severe side pain, thinking it was something permanent. But it was just a mild infection that the doctor caught with a simple urine test and a blood report. Some antibiotics prescribed by the doctor cleared it up in a week, so relax.

I just recovered from this last month. The doctor did a physical tap on my back to check for tenderness, and then ordered a urine culture and a CBC test. Once they knew the exact issue, the treatment was very straightforward, so get it tested soon.

I got this checked during my exams because of some crazy back pain. They literally just took a urine sample to see if there was any pus or infection. It was super simple and nothing to get worked up about.

I had a kidney infection last year. The doctor will ask for a clean-catch urine sample for a culture test, which tells them exactly which bacteria is causing it. Make sure you drink lots of water while waiting for the reports, but do finish the full antibiotic course they give you.

Drinking lots of water and barley water is very good to flush out toxins, but if you have high fever or severe pain, you must see a doctor. They will do a proper urine checkup to find the infection. Do not try to cure a deep infection with only home remedies.
