How do doctors check for kidney disease?

I've been having some swelling in my feet recently, and my BP is also a bit high. My family doctor suggested getting my kidneys checked. Can someone explain what tests they usually do to find out if there's a kidney problem?

My uncle had to get this checked recently. It is actually very simple; they just do a routine blood test for creatinine levels and a basic urine test to check for protein. It is much better to get it done early so you can stay relaxed and healthy.

At my age, my doctor makes me do all these kidney tests every year like it is a school exam. They check the glomerular filtration rate from your blood and do a quick urine routine. It is a very simple process, even if my wallet feels a bit lighter afterward.

I know how terrifying it is to wait for medical reports, my mind always goes to the worst-case scenario. But kidney checks are very standard, usually just a KFT blood panel and a urine test. Once you get the results, you will feel so much lighter, so please go ahead with it.

No need to go for expensive setups first. Just ask your local lab for a Kidney Function Test (KFT) and a urine routine, which are very pocket-friendly. Take those basic reports to your general physician and they will tell you if anything else is needed.

Bro, don't stress too much about this. The doctors just need a tiny blood sample to check your creatinine levels and maybe an ultrasound if they want to look closer. It is super common and nothing to lose sleep over, just get the test done.
