How do doctor diagnose pcos?

I've been having irregular periods and some other symptoms, and a friend suggested it might be PCOS. I'm wondering, what all tests or criteria do doctors generally use to diagnose PCOS? I want to be prepared when I visit the doc.

Doctors usually look for at least two of three things: irregular periods, signs of high androgens like facial hair or acne, and polycystic ovaries on a pelvic ultrasound. They will also do blood tests to check hormone levels and rule out other issues. It's a very standard process, so don't worry.

My mother suggested having spearmint tea for my irregular cycles, but I visited a gynecologist for a proper diagnosis. She did a blood panel for hormones and a pelvic scan to see the ovaries. Trusting a doctor's systematic approach is the best way to manage PCOS.

To get diagnosed, you will need a pelvic ultrasound and a hormone blood profile. I suggest looking for package deals at reputed diagnostic labs to save on costs, as doing ultrasound and blood tests separately can be expensive. Take the reports to a good gynecologist.

They don't have a magic wand, sadly! It's usually a combination of a chat about your unpredictable periods, some blood tests to check your hormone drama, and an ultrasound scan to see if your ovaries look like a string of pearls. Simple and straightforward!

The doctors will gently evaluate your system through blood analysis and a quiet ultrasound scan of your lower abdomen. Keep your mind calm, stay positive, and let the medical guides help you restore balance in your body.
