How do diabetic foot ulcers start?

My father has had diabetes for many years, and we're always worried about foot problems. I want to understand better, what are the initial signs or common ways diabetic foot ulcers typically start? We want to be careful.

Hey, don't stress too much, but it's really important to know how this happens. High sugar levels cause poor blood flow and nerve damage, so even a tiny cut or shoe bite on the foot goes unnoticed and turns into an ulcer. Just keep checking your feet daily!

I got a minor scratch on my heel last week and now I'm terrified it might turn into an ulcer because of my borderline diabetes. Has anyone else felt this constant worry about their feet, and how do you prevent small scratches from getting worse?

Ulcers start when poor circulation meets loss of sensation in the feet, often due to high blood sugar. Along with keeping your feet clean and moisturized, daily gentle stretching and deep breathing can help improve peripheral blood circulation. Always have a doctor check any persistent redness.

It's simple: diabetes causes neuropathy, which means you lose sensation in your feet. When you can't feel a small stone in your shoe or a blister, the friction keeps damaging the tissue until a deep ulcer forms. Skip the home remedies and get a proper diabetic foot assessment done.

In our experience, keeping the feet dry and clean is the most important step for diabetes patients. Ulcers usually start from dry cracked heels or tight footwear that cuts into the skin. While washing with warm water helps, please consult your doctor immediately if a wound does not heal in two days.

I ignored a simple shoe bite on my big toe thinking it would heal naturally, but due to my uncontrolled diabetes, it turned into a deep, painful ulcer. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Go to a doctor the moment you see any skin break or blister on your feet.
