How do cavities look like?

My child complained about a toothache, and when I checked, I saw a small discolored spot. I'm wondering if that's what a cavity looks like to the naked eye. What should I look out for?

I was terrified when I saw a dark line on my back tooth, thinking it was a huge cavity. It turned out to be just a harmless food stain that the dentist cleaned up in five minutes. So don't worry too much until a doctor actually looks at it.

They basically look like dark brown or black specs, or sometimes like a tiny crater on the tooth. If you notice food constantly getting stuck in one specific spot, that is also a sign. Just book a quick 15-minute dental consult over the weekend to get it sorted.

When I had a cavity, it looked like a tiny, shadow-like spot on the side of my front tooth. I didn't feel any pain, but I could feel a slight dip when I ran my fingernail over it. My dentist fixed it with a tooth-colored filling.

Hey, they usually look like little black or dark brown pits on your molars. Don't stress too much about it, they are super common and very easy to fix. Just get a quick filling done before it starts hurting!

They usually look like small dark spots or tiny holes on the tooth surface. Hope you can get a quick checkup soon and feel better.
