How do budgies sleep?

A new pair of budgies at home means I'm trying to learn everything about their care. I've noticed they sometimes tuck their heads, but I'm not sure if that means they're sleeping. What's their typical sleeping behavior like, and how do they actually sleep?

Budgies sleep standing on one leg on their perch, often tucking their head back into their feathers. To help them sleep well naturally, cover their cage with a light, breathable cloth to keep it dark. If your bird seems constantly weak or sleeps on the cage floor, please consult a vet immediately.

These little birds need about 10 to 12 hours of dark, quiet sleep every night. They lock their feet onto a perch so they don't fall off while resting. Keep their sleeping environment quiet and steady to prevent stress-related health issues.

Budgies usually sleep high up on their favorite perch during the night. For their safety, make sure the cage is secure from drafts and predators. If you notice your budgie sleeping excessively during the day or looking fluffed up constantly, get them checked by an avian vet for safety.

Actually, they sleep on one leg and puff up their feathers to stay warm, yaar! It looks super cute when they tuck their head in. Just make sure you cover the cage at night, otherwise, they get disturbed very easily by household lights.

My children have a pet budgie, and we learned that they sleep standing on one foot. We cover the cage every evening to give them proper rest, as our local vet advised that birds need undisturbed darkness to maintain their immunity. It is best to follow professional advice for pet care.

Budgies sleep comfortably on a high perch inside their cage. A simple solution to help them sleep is to put the cage in a quiet room and cover it with a dark bedsheet after 8 PM. This keeps them on a healthy cycle without spending money on fancy accessories.
