How do a positive tb test look?

My colleague recently tested positive for TB, and now I'm worried because we share an office. I got tested too, and I'm not sure how to interpret the results. What exactly does a positive TB skin test or blood test look like?

Back in my days, we had the Mantoux skin test where they inject a small fluid in the forearm. If it becomes a hard, raised red bump after two or three days, it is positive. Don't worry, even if it is positive, TB is completely curable now with proper timely medicine.

Honestly, keeping track of that skin test circle on your arm for 72 hours while dealing with a crying toddler is a different level of stress. If it swells up and looks like a hard mosquito bite, it's positive. Best to let the clinic staff look at it because my tired eyes couldn't measure millimeter sizes anyway.

Hey, if it's the skin test, it will look like a firm, slightly raised red swelling on your arm. Don't stress too much about it right now because even a positive test doesn't always mean active TB, it could just be latent. Just get it read by your doc and they will guide you.

My doctor explained that for the Mantoux skin test, they measure the diameter of the hard induration, not just the redness. A bump of 10mm or more is usually considered positive in healthy individuals. If you did a blood test like IGRA, the lab report will clearly say 'Positive' or 'Detected' based on interferon levels.

For the skin test, a noticeable hard swelling appears at the injection site within 48 to 72 hours. Whatever the result is, keep your mind calm and have faith. The doctors have excellent treatments these days, so just take care of your health and let the medical reports guide you.

A positive TB test typically presents as a firm, raised swelling on the skin where the injection was given. For your own safety, you must get it examined by a qualified doctor within the 48-72 hour window. Never delay these tests as timely diagnosis is very important.

I always believe in getting regular checkups done, especially when managing high BP and other issues. A positive TB skin test shows a hard bump of a certain size on your forearm. If you see this, please go to a diagnostic clinic immediately for a chest X-ray and sputum test to check the active status.

I ignored a persistent cough and a slight bump on my arm test years ago, and I ended up suffering for six months in the hospital. If you see any hard, raised swelling on your arm after the injection, please get it checked by a specialist immediately. Don't make the mistake I did.

Don't try to measure the skin test bump yourself using a scale or comparing it with photos on the internet. Only a doctor or lab technician can properly measure the hard area to confirm if it is positive. Incorrect self-diagnosis will only cause unnecessary panic.

A positive test looks like a hard, raised, swollen red bump on your arm. Please visit your clinic so they can measure it properly.

If it is the Mantoux test, a firm little bump will show up on your arm where they poked you! Don't worry at all, just head to your clinic so the doc can measure it accurately. It is super simple and manageable these days. 😊

When my cousin had a positive test, it looked like a firm red spot on her arm, almost like a bad insect bite. She had to eat really nutritious, high-protein meals during her treatment to keep her strength up. If you have a bump, go see a doctor and start focusing on a healthy diet!

A positive reaction to the tuberculin skin test is indicated by a hard, raised area of induration, not just simple redness. Because interpretation depends heavily on your medical history and risk factors, a doctor's clinical evaluation is absolutely essential. Do not rely on self-assessment.

Please be very careful with this. I had a positive skin test that I ignored thinking it was just a regular skin allergy, and it later turned into a severe lung infection. If you have any swelling on your arm after the test, or a chronic cough, go see a pulmonologist immediately.

When I got tested, my arm developed a hard, red, swollen bump that stayed for three days. The nurse measured it with a small ruler and told me it was positive. I can't give medical advice, but that was my experience before they started me on further chest scans.
