How common is valley fever?

I was reading an international health article and came across something called 'valley fever'. It sounded a bit scary. Is this something that is common in India at all, or is it mostly seen in other parts of the world?

Oh god, even reading about these rare fungal infections makes me so anxious! Thankfully, Valley Fever is not common in India at all; it is mostly found in dry areas of the US and Mexico. But still, please stay safe and don't breathe in dusty soil if you travel there.

It is quite rare here because it is caused by a specific fungus found in desert soil of the Americas. If you are traveling and get exposed, drinking warm turmeric milk can boost immunity. But if you have persistent cough and chest pain, see a proper doctor immediately.

My uncle who lives in California actually contracted Valley Fever after a dust storm. He had a really bad dry cough and fatigue for weeks. It is quite common in those specific dry zones, but rare back home in India.

I am barely surviving on three hours of sleep, and now I am googling Valley Fever! Thankfully, it is a regional thing in places like Arizona, so we don't have to worry about it in our crowded Indian cities. One less thing to keep me awake tonight!

While it is not common in our country, fungal infections can cause serious lung complications if ignored. I had a severe respiratory issue once and it took months to recover because of delayed treatment. Please get a proper diagnosis if you show symptoms after traveling.
