How common is typhoid?

My neighbour's child just got diagnosed with typhoid and it has me a little concerned, especially with the rainy season coming up. It seems like it's quite common every year. How common is typhoid actually in our cities?

It is extremely common in India, especially during the monsoon season when water gets contaminated. While drinking boiled water with a bit of ginger helps soothe the stomach, please don't rely only on home remedies. If you have a high fever, you must see a doctor immediately for antibiotics.

Typhoid is so common here that it feels like an annual festival we all have to attend at least once! My energy levels took a massive hit the last time I got it. Just drink clean water and pray your local chaat guy washes his hands properly.

It is pretty common because of outside food hygiene issues. I caught it last year and it completely wrecked my workout routine and muscle mass because of the weakness. Best way to recover is absolute rest and slowly starting light walks only after the doctor clears you.

In our country, typhoid is very common due to changing weather and outside food. Along with the doctor's medicines, we always give light foods like khichdi and fresh coconut water to keep the strength up. Avoid heavy oily foods completely until the stomach recovers fully.

I was just reading up on this because my roommate down with high fever. Apparently, it is super common in South Asia due to sanitation issues. It is scary how easily it spreads through local street food, definitely makes me want to carry my own water bottle everywhere.
