How common is diabetes?

My whole family has a history of diabetes – my parents, my uncles, almost everyone. I'm worried about developing it too. I wanted to know how common diabetes is overall in India these days.

Yaar, diabetes toh India mein har doosre ghar mein hai, haan. My own father and chacha have it. It has become super common now because of our lifestyle and sweet cravings, but you can manage it easily with proper walks and diet control, na.

Look, it is extremely common, but it's not a death sentence. The most practical solution is to cut down on white rice, do a 30-minute brisk walk daily, and get a cheap HbA1c test done every six months. Simple steps are more than enough to keep it under control.

I can't share any scientific facts, but almost every senior in my family has diabetes. They live very active, happy lives by just avoiding refined sugar and taking their medicines on time. It is very common, but totally manageable once you get into a routine.

Diabetes is very common, and while I always drink methi water in the morning to keep my sugar stable, you cannot rely only on home remedies. If you are experiencing extreme thirst or sudden weight loss, please go straight to a doctor and get your blood sugar tested immediately.

India is often called the diabetes capital of the world, so yes, it is incredibly common. My physician explained that our South Asian genetics make us highly prone to insulin resistance. He advised that keeping the HbA1c below 6.5 through a low-carb diet and strength training is the best way to prevent complications.

I absolutely panicked when my fasting sugar came back high last year, thinking my life was over. But my doctor sat me down and explained how common and manageable it is. Once I started tracking my meals and walking, my levels came back to normal. You can easily manage it too!

It has indeed become very widespread in our society today due to mental stress and lack of movement. Along with your regular medical checkups, practicing Mandukasana and Kapalbhati daily really helps in stimulating the pancreas. Keep a calm mind and stay active.
