How common is back pain in teens?

My 15-year-old son has been complaining of back pain recently, especially after sitting for long hours doing homework. I always thought back pain was an older person's problem. How common is back pain in teenagers these days?

Humare bache aajkal din bhar phone aur computer par baithe rehte hain, isiliye peeth dard bahut aam baat ho gayi hai. Unhe thoda dhoop mein khelne bhejiye aur bolo seedhe baithne ko. Dhire dhire sab theek ho jayega.

Honestly, almost all my college friends complain about back pain because of heavy backpacks and long hours of gaming or lectures. It is super common now. Just stretching for 10 minutes or using a better chair helps a lot.

It is surprisingly common nowadays due to poor posture, heavy school bags, and lack of active outdoor sports.

Teen back pain has indeed become very common, mostly linked to posture and weak core muscles. While general stiffness is usually harmless, if the pain is accompanied by numbness, tingling in the legs, or night pain, you must consult an orthopedist immediately.

With online classes and heavy school bags, teen back pain is rising fast. Instead of buying expensive ergonomic chairs, just ensure they walk around every hour and do simple hamstring stretches. A firm mattress also helps prevent morning stiffness.

My 15-year-old brother has been complaining of constant lower back stiffness for a month now. Is this normal for teenagers, or should we be worried about some underlying bone issues? I am really anxious if we should get an X-ray done.

I had severe lower back pain during my late teens, and it was so frustrating because my friends were all active while I was struggling to sit in class. People often dismiss it as 'study stress' or drama, but the pain is very real. Please support them and consult a physical therapist early.
